Parliament to Launch 2nd Democracy Cup on July 24

The Parliamentary Service of Ghana has announced the official launch of the second edition of the annual Democracy Cup football match will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

The event is scheduled to take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Justice D.F. Annan Auditorium in Parliament House, Accra.

The launch will be led by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and will feature the unveiling of the two teams set to compete in this year’s eagerly awaited match.

A statement from Parliament’s Media Relations Department indicated that key details about the August 2025 match will also be disclosed during the event.

Launched in 2024, the Democracy Cup is a sports initiative by Ghana’s Parliament aimed at promoting civic participation and national cohesion through football.

The inaugural edition, held on July 17, 2024, saw Asante Kotoko defeat Hearts of Oak in a thrilling match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Organisers have promised an even more exciting second edition, filled with surprises and memorable moments for football fans and the general public.
