The Headmaster of KNUST Senior High School, Anthony Duodu Antwi-Boasiako, has expressed concern over the school’s deteriorating infrastructure and lack of learning materials, which he says are affecting the quality of education.
Speaking at the 65th Anniversary launch of the school, he highlighted a stalled GETFund project—a 40-unit classroom block that began in 2008 but remains incomplete. The facility was designed to include 12 laboratories for key subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, ICT, Home Science, and a Virtual Art Studio.
Due to space constraints, some classrooms have been converted into makeshift laboratories, disrupting both teaching and learning. Mr. Antwi-Boasiako stressed that the incomplete infrastructure has led to limited resources for practical learning and poor performance in competitions like the National Science and Maths Quiz.
He called on the government, alumni, and stakeholders to revive the project and invest in the school’s infrastructure to improve academic outcomes.
Also speaking at the event, Ashanti Regional Deputy Director of Education, Thomas Kwame Boateng, emphasized the importance of education and encouraged students to embrace digital learning tools and innovative teaching methods to enhance their studies.
