The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has refuted reports by Norvanreport.com claiming that Mr. Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer and promoter of Springfield Energy, was arrested or detained in Dubai due to EOCO’s alleged failure to act on a fraud petition.
In a statement issued on Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO described the publication as “false and misleading”, urging the public to disregard it.
The Office clarified that there are two ongoing investigations involving Springfield Energy — one based on a petition filed against the company, and another relating to a dispute between Springfield Energy and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).
“It is the directive of EOCO’s leadership that investigations must come before any arrest — not the other way around,”
the statement explained, adding that the BOST–Springfield case is being prioritised because of its potential impact on BOST’s finances and the national economy.
EOCO also criticised Norvanreport.com for failing to verify its claims before publishing the story.
“Although EOCO typically does not comment on ongoing investigations, it is regrettable that Norvanreport.com did not seek clarification before publishing the false report,”
the Office stated.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and due process, EOCO assured the public of its dedication to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes.
The statement concluded by urging the public to ignore the false publication and remain confident that EOCO is actively investigating two separate cases involving Springfield Energy.
