Enoch Afoakwah, legal counsel for Percival Kofi Akpaloo, leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has confirmed that his client was arrested by officers of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Mr. Afoakwah stated that Mr. Akpaloo was picked up at approximately 10:00 AM from his residence in Kumasi by EOCO operatives.
“Once I was informed, I proceeded to the EOCO office. Around 1 to 2 PM, my client was brought in, and I ensured all legal protocols were duly followed,” he said.
Mr. Afoakwah commended EOCO officers for their professionalism during the process.
“They were diplomatic in their approach and respectful throughout. I cannot say they violated any of Mr. Akpaloo’s fundamental human rights,” he added.
He revealed that the interrogation lasted until about 8:00 PM, after which Mr. Akpaloo was held in custody overnight.
“Due to the timing, they couldn’t process his release. I’ll be at the EOCO office on Thursday morning to follow up on securing his bail,” the lawyer confirmed.
While the exact reason for the arrest remains undisclosed, Mr. Akpaloo has reportedly been transferred to Accra to assist with ongoing investigations. EOCO has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
