The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has appeared before the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for questioning over an alleged GH¢4 million bribe attempt.

Mr. Kotey recently disclosed publicly that certain influential individuals offered him the GH¢4 million bribe in an attempt to stop the implementation of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.

He explained that the bribe was intended to sway him into abandoning the initiative, which seeks to reduce vehicle-related fraud and enhance road safety nationwide.

The OSP confirmed that the DVLA boss was invited to assist in investigations into the alleged offer. The office said it aims to verify the circumstances surrounding the claim and identify those involved.

According to reports by Samuel Ackom, the interrogation is ongoing at the OSP premises, with further details yet to be released.

Separately, the OSP has launched an investigation into a current member of the Council of State over alleged corruption and related offenses connected to gold trading.

Sources indicate the probe focuses on claims that the Council member may have used his position to influence the issuance of a gold license to a company in which he reportedly has undisclosed interests.
