The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has announced that the Bolgatanga District Court has placed a ban on the organisation and celebration of the 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku.
In a ruling issued on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the court prohibited the President and members of the 2025 Damba Festival Planning Committee from engaging in any festival-related activities.
According to REGSEC, the decision is a preventive measure aimed at maintaining peace and security in Bawku and its surrounding communities, which have been experiencing rising tensions in recent weeks.
The ban will remain in force until further notice.
