Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has officially been sworn in as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, and also saw the induction of Prof. Ransford Gyampo, Acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority, as a member of the newly restructured GPHA Board.
These appointments are part of the government’s broader initiative to enhance the governance framework of the GPHA and to provide strategic leadership for the continued development and regulation of Ghana’s port infrastructure.
The reconstituted board will be responsible for guiding the Authority’s policy direction, improving operational performance, and supporting infrastructure expansion across Ghana’s major ports.
As a critical player in international trade, the GPHA is expected—under its new leadership—to implement reforms that will boost competitiveness, increase revenue mobilisation, and solidify Ghana’s position as a leading maritime hub in West Africa.
