In a strategic effort to deepen energy sector collaboration, His Excellency Paskal A. B. Rois, Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Ghana, paid a courtesy visit to the CEO of Ghana’s Petroleum Commission, Madam Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle.

The meeting centered on enhancing investment opportunities and fostering partnerships in Ghana’s upstream oil and gas industry.

H.E. Rois emphasized Indonesia’s vast experience in both offshore and onshore oil and gas operations, highlighting the interest of Indonesian state-owned enterprises and private companies in working with Ghana. He specifically named PT Pertamina, Indonesia’s national oil and gas company, as a potential investor in Ghana’s energy sector.

Madam Hardcastle welcomed the initiative, noting Ghana’s available oil blocks in deepwater, shallow water, and onshore locations ready for exploration and development. She expressed optimism about potential collaborations, especially in technology transfer and skills development.

Beyond energy investment, H.E. Rois introduced Indonesia’s KNB Scholarship program, which offers Ghanaian students—particularly in engineering fields—the opportunity to pursue higher education in Indonesia. He suggested the Petroleum Commission take advantage of this initiative to build local capacity, and also proposed partnerships with Pertamina University for industry-specific training and academic programs.

Madam Hardcastle expressed strong interest in these educational opportunities and advocated for immediate collaboration to help build a skilled Ghanaian workforce in the energy sector.

She also extended an invitation for Indonesian companies to participate in Africa Oil Week, which Ghana will host for the first time. H.E. Rois pledged to share the opportunity with Indonesian businesses and encourage their involvement.

With its population of over 280 million and a well-established oil and gas industry, Indonesia’s technical expertise and resources position it as a valuable partner for Ghana’s energy development. This engagement marks a significant step toward deeper bilateral cooperation, with expected gains in energy, education, and economic growth for both nations.
