Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, has expressed satisfaction with the national team’s performances, despite back-to-back defeats during their November international friendlies.
Ghana traveled to Asia as part of their build-up to next year’s World Cup, facing Japan and South Korea. The Black Stars lost 2-0 to Japan at Toyota Stadium and 1-0 to South Korea at Seoul World Cup Stadium, leaving the team without a win during the international window.
Appiah, a former captain of the Black Stars, praised the squad for their effort and commitment on the pitch.
“I’m very pleased with the performance of the players, especially in the second game against South Korea. Against Japan, they played well in the second half, and against South Korea, they performed even better,” Appiah told Kobe Boujee.
“Of course, we went there aiming for results, but sometimes it’s not just about the scoreline—it’s also about performance. You watch some teams lose, yet fans applaud them because they gave their all. That’s exactly what our players did.
“I’m also glad that some players got the chance to showcase their talents, especially those who have been in camp for months, receiving call-ups but not getting playing time. Platforms like these allow them to prove themselves,” he added.
The Black Stars are scheduled to regroup in March to continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
