Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has confirmed that Otto Addo will continue as head coach of the Black Stars, leading the team to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Addo, the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach, faced criticism after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first absence in over 20 years. However, he redeemed himself by steering the Black Stars to World Cup qualification, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico next summer.
Despite some fans calling for his dismissal over inconsistent performances, Okraku insisted that the 49-year-old coach remains in charge.
“Otto Addo is our coach. He qualified us for the World Cup in grand style, and he will take the Black Stars there,” Okraku told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.
He added, “In Qatar, we had a decent outing, and the stats are there. As a human, he will make mistakes, but he will stay and lead the team to the World Cup.”
The Black Stars will learn their group-stage opponents for the 2026 tournament on December 5.
