Mason Jailed For Stealing Employer’s Iron Rods

A 35-year-old mason, Etornam Kojo Biekro, has been sentenced to three months in jail by the Adentan Magistrates Court in Accra. Biekro pleaded guilty to stealing iron rods valued at GH¢23,000 from his employer.

Stealing from the One You Work For

The court heard that Biekro, a resident of Ablor-Adjei, Accra, was entrusted with safeguarding iron rods purchased by his employer, Stephen Senayo, an accountant from Kasoa. The materials were meant for Senayo’s building project.

Broken Trust and Empty Promises

During a visit to the construction site, Senayo discovered the iron rods missing and Biekro absent. When questioned, Biekro admitted to using the rods for another project and promised to replace them, a promise he failed to keep.

Justice Served

Senayo reported the theft to the Akporman Police Post, leading to Biekro’s arrest. Despite admitting his crime and requesting leniency to return the stolen materials, Biekro ultimately failed to do so. After being released on bail with the expectation of returning the rods, he was re-arrested on July 31st.

Magistrate Adadey Delivers Sentence

Presiding Magistrate Nancy Adadey sentenced Biekro to three months imprisonment and ordered him to pay the cost of the stolen iron rods upon his release.
