President John Mahama has paid a heartfelt tribute to former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, saying her death marks the end of a major chapter in Ghana’s political and social history.

Delivering the tribute on Mahama’s behalf at the state funeral held at Black Star Square, Joyce Bawa Mogtari described Nana Konadu as “more than a former First Lady—she was a pioneering leader, a steadfast advocate for women’s empowerment, and a trailblazer in Ghana’s political space.”

Mahama praised her impactful initiatives in literacy, maternal health, early childhood education, and economic empowerment, especially for women and girls in rural communities. “She redefined the role of First Lady and turned it into a platform for national development,” he said.

He also portrayed her as bold, principled, and deeply committed to her family, noting that her influence will continue to inspire generations.

“May her soul rest in peace, and may her legacy lead us toward a more just, inclusive, and equitable Ghana,” the tribute ended.
