Hadzide Dismisses Claims of Bryan Acheampong Hoarding Fertilisers

- Bryan Acheampong accused of hoarding fertilisers during 2024 dry spell
- Campaign spokesperson Pius Hadzide calls allegations false and “scandalous”
- Says minister ensured fair distribution and was not responsible for local delivery
Pius Enam Hadzide, spokesperson for the Bryan Acheampong Campaign Team, has rejected claims that former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr. Bryan Acheampong hoarded fertilisers intended for farmers during the 2024 dry spell.
Mr. Hadzide described the allegations—which also suggest that Acheampong’s alleged actions contributed to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 electoral defeat—as false, baseless, and politically driven.
Speaking on Face to Face on Channel One TV with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Hadzide called the accusations “scandalous,” stressing that the former minister ensured the fair and timely distribution of fertilisers across the country.
“How can that be? What would Bryan Acheampong do with fertiliser? He is a self-made man,” Hadzide questioned.
He explained that as part of efforts to cushion farmers during the dry spell, Dr. Acheampong oversaw the importation and distribution of fertilisers to all regions but was not personally responsible for their direct delivery to farmers.
“The Minister for Agriculture, as an intervention to mitigate the dry spell’s impact, imported fertilisers and distributed them to every region,” he clarified. “The minister’s role does not include physically distributing fertilisers to farmers — that’s the responsibility of local government structures and assemblies.”
Mr. Hadzide added that if any district failed to distribute fertilisers promptly, the blame should not fall on the sector minister.
“It’s only desperation of the highest order that would make someone accuse the minister of wrongdoing,” he concluded.
