The Asante Kingdom has been plunged into mourning following the death of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The Oyoko Family officially announced the passing of the second most influential figure in Asanteman to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on Monday.
Born Nana Ama Konadu, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the 14th Asantehemaa and the biological sister of the reigning Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
She ascended to the position of Asantehemaa five years ago, succeeding her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.
Renowned for her loyalty, wisdom, strength, and dedication to Asante traditions, Nana Konadu Yiadom III played a vital role in preserving the culture of Asanteman and providing steadfast support to her brother’s reign.
Her presence at the Manhyia Palace symbolized stability and unity within both the royal family and the wider Asante community.
Although specific details surrounding her death remain limited, family sources report that she passed away at dawn on August 7, 2025.
The Manhyia Palace is expected to release an official statement and announce funeral arrangements once all customary protocols and traditional rites related to the passing of royalty have been completed.
