Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yuhonu has promoted all members of the Police Royal Ladies, an all-female unit in the Ghana Police Service named in honor of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to their next ranks.

The promotions follow two special parades of honour organized by the group for Otumfuo—first at the Police Headquarters on January 6, 2026, and later during the first Akwasidae of the year at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Speaking at the Akwasidae celebration, the IGP said the guard of honour by the Royal Ladies was a gesture of the Police Service’s deep appreciation for Otumfuo’s historic visit to the police headquarters.

“We have these ladies called Royal Ladies, named after Otumfuo. They have come to grace this occasion, marking a first-of-its-kind visit to Manhyia Palace, also attended by many POMAB members this afternoon,” IGP Yuhonu said.

He added, “I am pleased to announce that these ladies have worked exceptionally hard, distinguished themselves, and are committed to making Ghana proud. In recognition of their dedication and for being the first group to honour Otumfuo at the National Police Headquarters and at Manhyia Palace, the Police Administration has decided to promote them to the next rank.”
