The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Desmond Ofei, former coach of the Black Satellites and current Black Stars assistant coach, as the new head coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s U23 men’s national team.
Ofei replaces Kassim Mingle, who has now been assigned to lead the Black Galaxies.
He will be supported by Yaw Preko and Baba Nuhu Malam as assistant coaches. The newly constituted technical team aims to boost the Meteors’ performance as they prepare for future competitions.
The rest of the technical setup includes:
- Montari Tagoe, ex-Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC goalkeeper, as Goalkeepers Coach
- Atta Yeboah, Aduana Stars Welfare Officer, as Team Manager
- Henry Bart-Plange as Team Masseur
- Baba Aluta of Aduana Stars as Equipment Officer
- Eli Vorgbe as Video Analyst, bringing modern analytical support to the team
- Dr. Eric Tetteh as Team Doctor
- Collins Annor as Physiotherapist
According to the GFA, the new team is “expected to provide the necessary support to elevate the Black Meteors’ performance” as they gear up for key assignments.
The Black Meteors are looking to break their Olympic Games qualification drought, having last participated in Athens 2004.
