Talent Isn’t Enough, The Right Team Makes the Money – Gyakie

Story Highlights
  • Gyakie says music is profitable—but only with the right team
  • Success in music requires business-savvy collaborators, not just talent
  • Many artists struggle despite talent due to weak management she says

Ghanaian singer Gyakie has emphasized that success in the music industry goes beyond talent, pointing to the critical role of strategic collaborations and effective management in building a sustainable career.

Speaking during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the “Forever” hitmaker shared that while music can be financially rewarding, artists often struggle when they lack the right team and business knowledge.

“There’s definitely money to be made in music, but only if you’re working with people who understand the business side,” she noted.

Gyakie reflected on her own journey, comparing it to a more conventional career path.

“Back when I was in school and not focused on music, I could’ve ended up in a regular 9-to-5 or running my own business. But music became my fulfilling path. Still, I’ve learned it’s not just about making music—it’s about who you work with.”

She added that many talented artists produce great work, but fail to reap the financial rewards due to weak or misinformed management.

“A strong, knowledgeable team behind the scenes is just as important as the music itself. Without solid management, even the most gifted artists can struggle to succeed.”
