Kuami Eugene Calls Amaarae a “Legend”

Ghanaian music sensation Kuami Eugene has showered praise on fellow artist Amaarae, describing her as a long-standing musical powerhouse whose immense talent is only now being fully recognized by the mainstream.

In an interview with Doreen Avio, Kuami Eugene affectionately referred to Amaarae as his “big sister” and a “legend,” applauding her for staying true to her unique sound and artistic vision over the years.

“Amaarae is my big sister. She’s a legend. The thing is, she’s never really been quiet—it’s just the kind of space she operates in,” he said.

He noted that while Amaarae’s genre-blending, alternative style has always resonated within niche audiences, it had not previously broken into Ghana’s mainstream music scene.

“She’s been making waves for a long time. It’s just that her music appealed more to specific circles, not the typical Ghanaian crowd. It’s a bit unfortunate that people are only now discovering her—but I’m thrilled they are, because her talent is absolutely next level,” he added.

Amaarae, known for her boundary-pushing sound and bold aesthetics, shot to international fame with her hit Sad Girlz Luv Money, featuring Kali Uchis and Moliy. The track charted globally, cementing her status as a leading voice in the alternative African pop movement.
