Captain Planet, a member of the now-defunct hiplife group 4×4, has stirred debate on social media after expressing concern about the outfits worn by some young female attendees at this year’s Tidal Rave festival.
In a post shared shortly after the event, he questioned the decency of certain looks, describing some of the outfits as “obscene.”
“I’m just seeing some of the outfits from yesterday’s Tidal Rave 😳😳😳😳. Chale, some of these small small girls—I don’t know whether they are models or pornstars. What is happening in Ghana?” he wrote.
His comments quickly sparked backlash, with many accusing him of disrespecting young women and policing their bodies. Critics argued that fashion trends evolve and that festival settings often encourage bold, expressive styles.
Responding to the criticism, Captain Planet stood by his views, insisting that his concern was about decency, not restricting personal freedom.
“So you would let your sister dress like this outside?” he asked his critics. “You’re comparing Ghana to America?”
His response has deepened the online debate, with social media users split between those who share his concerns and those who see his remarks as judgmental and unnecessary.
