Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has disclosed that he submitted his works for consideration in the 66th Grammy Awards but did not receive a nomination.
In an interview with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the rapper revealed that he filed entries in two categories — Best African Music Performance and Best Global Album.
Despite not being nominated, Black Sherif said he remains unfazed.
“I would be happy if they nominated me, but it doesn’t move me that they didn’t. I’m not shaken or bothered,” he said.
The artist, however, expressed optimism about winning Artiste of the Year at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, adding with confidence, “We deserve it. What do you think?”
Black Sherif’s debut album, Iron Boy, released on April 3, 2025, has become one of the most streamed Ghanaian albums of the year.
On Spotify, the project debuted at number six on the UK Top Debuted Albums chart and broke the record for the highest first-day streams for a Ghanaian album, hitting 2 million streams. It has since become the most streamed Ghanaian album of 2025, surpassing 103.3 million streams.
On Apple Music, Iron Boy dominated the Top Albums chart in Ghana for 158 days, with five tracks reaching number one on the Top 100 Ghana chart. The hit single Sacrifice led the chart for 23 consecutive weeks.
Meanwhile, on Audiomack, Black Sherif surpassed 1 billion career streams, further cementing his status as the most streamed Ghanaian artist on the platform.
The success of Iron Boy continues Black Sherif’s steady rise as one of Ghana’s most influential young musicians, celebrated for his storytelling, street-inspired poetry, and deeply personal lyrical style.
