Arathejay Explains Decision to Reveal His Face After Anonymity

Ghanaian musician Arathejay has opened up about why he now appears in his music visuals after initially choosing to keep his identity hidden.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, Arathejay said the decision to unveil his face came after thoughtful discussions with his team. While he still believes that music should be more about substance than appearance, he acknowledged that having a recognizable image can help reinforce a song’s message.

“Initially, it was more of a masked concept. I didn’t want anyone to see me,” he shared. “But over time, after speaking with my team and working on my brand image, I realized I needed to show my face—at least a little.”

He explained that his original intent was to keep listeners focused solely on his lyrics and message, rather than his physical appearance.

“I strongly believe it’s about the message I’m sharing. I want people to really listen to what I’m saying,” he said.

Although he now appears on camera more frequently, Arathejay noted that his signature look still helps him maintain a degree of mystery.

“I sometimes take off the mask, but if I’m not wearing it in public, most people still wouldn’t recognize me,” he added.
