Ghanaian Talent Wasted Due to Low Production – Gloria Sarfo

Ghanaian actress Gloria Sarfo has expressed deep frustration over the declining state of the country’s film industry, stating that talent is being wasted due to the lack of consistent productions and opportunities for actors.

In a candid social media post, Gloria contrasted Ghana’s stagnating industry with the vibrancy of Nigeria’s film scene, where actors are frequently engaged in back-to-back productions. She noted that while Ghanaian producers struggle to complete even one movie a year, many skilled actors are left idle and underutilized.

“It’s heartbreaking. We are wasting so much talent because the industry is practically idle. Something needs to change,” she wrote.

The actress shared that friends and fans often remark that she is wasting her potential in Ghana—an opinion she now finds hard to dismiss.

Describing the situation as disheartening, Gloria called on industry stakeholders to urgently devise sustainable solutions to revive what was once a thriving film sector. She emphasized that without meaningful intervention, more talent could be lost to inactivity and discouragement.

Gloria also suggested that actors may need to take the lead in producing their own films to fill the creative void, given the lack of output from traditional producers.

She ended her message with a call for national attention and collaboration, urging creatives and policymakers alike to work together to revive and reshape the industry—one she believes still holds tremendous promise if given the right support.
