Don Little’s Scary Currency Mix-Up in Ethiopia

Ghanaian comic actor Don Little has shared a harrowing experience from a recent trip to Ethiopia, where he narrowly avoided arrest due to a misunderstanding over currency exchange.

He recounted that he arrived in Addis Ababa early in the morning, well ahead of his midnight flight, but found himself stranded with only Ghana cedis in hand. In an attempt to obtain local currency, he approached a passerby for assistance with an exchange.

However, the situation took a troubling turn when the individual became suspicious, accused him of attempted theft, and alerted the police.

According to Don Little, the situation was defused when another passerby recognized him as a Ghanaian actor and stepped in to clarify the misunderstanding.

“That’s how I gained my freedom. Without that person’s intervention, I might have been arrested and charged. Ghanaians would have mocked me, all because I was hungry and had no local currency. I didn’t exchange money earlier because I didn’t expect the layover to be that long,” he explained.

Following the incident, Don Little is advising fellow travelers to always convert their money into the local currency of their destination to avoid similar complications.
