Teachers in Ghana to Observe National Professional Development Day

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared Friday, January 23, 2026, as a National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day for teachers across the country.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, January 15, GES emphasized that this initiative highlights the importance of ongoing professional development to improve teaching quality and enhance the skills of educators nationwide.

The CPD Day will allow teachers to benefit from institutional support and uninterrupted time to participate in Phase Two of the Cybersecurity and Data Protection training program. This will ensure that teachers can engage fully in the training without affecting their teaching schedules.

As part of this, January 23, 2026, will also be a holiday for students to avoid any disruption to their learning.

GES management has instructed all Regional Directors of Education to relay this information to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education, as well as to Heads of Basic and Secondary Schools, ensuring full compliance with the directive.

The release concluded by urging school authorities to collaborate to ensure the success of the National CPD Day.
