Road Accident on Kumasi-Shama Road

Personnel from the Sekondi Metro Fire Station responded promptly to a road traffic accident on the Kumasi-Shama road in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, 2025.
A seven-member rescue team, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO1) Kingsley Anane, was deployed to the scene.
The crash involved a Nissan Howo truck (registration number GW 4382-19) and a KIA Rhino (registration number AS 9228-14).
According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the KIA Rhino was found wedged beneath the Nissan Howo upon their arrival, with one individual trapped inside.
Using a hydraulic spreader, the team was able to create sufficient space to safely extricate the victim. The rescued individual was then handed over to the police for further medical attention.
The rescue operation was completed by 5:35 a.m.
An investigation is currently ongoing to determine the cause of the collision. The current condition of the rescued person has not yet been disclosed.
The GNFS is advising motorists to drive with extra caution, especially during early morning hours when visibility is low and fatigue may impair judgment.
