Police Arrest Suspect Over Counterfeit Dollars, Firearm at Ablekuma

The Ghana Police Service, through its National Operations Directorate Surveillance Unit, has arrested a suspect at Ablekuma in the Greater Accra Region for possessing suspected counterfeit foreign currency and an unauthorised firearm.
The suspect, identified as Josiah Elorm Kwame Amezado, was arrested following intelligence reports that a self-styled fetish priest in the area was allegedly involved in criminal activities and in possession of a firearm, posing a potential threat to public safety.
A search of the suspect’s room led to the recovery of quantities of United States dollar notes in one-hundred-dollar denominations, suspected to be counterfeit.
Police also retrieved a pair of handcuffs, a black vest, a Kuzey A100 blank pistol, and fifty-eight rounds of 9mm blank ammunition.
The suspect is currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine the source and authenticity of the currency, as well as the circumstances surrounding his possession of the firearm and other seized items.
The Police Service has indicated that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
