Parliament’s Appointments Committee To Vet Justice Ackaah-Boafo Today

Story Highlights
  • Final nominee in group of seven Appeals Court justices nominated for the Supreme Court
  • Process had been paused following a misconduct petition filed by Anthony Kwabenya Rau
  • Justice Ackaah-Boafo denies claims of insulting or disrespecting the petitioner during court proceedings

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will on Friday, June 20, 2025, resume vetting of Supreme Court nominee Justice Kwaku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, following the lifting of a temporary suspension of the process.

The vetting had previously been put on hold due to a petition filed by one Anthony Kwabenya Rau, who accused the nominee of misconduct during a legal proceeding. According to the petition, Justice Ackaah-Boafo allegedly referred to Mr. Rau as “arrogant” and “power drunk”—claims the nominee has strongly denied.

Justice Ackaah-Boafo is the final nominee among seven justices of the Court of Appeal nominated by President John Dramani Mahama for promotion to the Supreme Court.

Today’s session is expected to conclude the vetting process for all seven nominees. The Committee will subsequently submit its report and recommendations to the full House for a decision on their approval or rejection.
