A 15-year-old boy from Kaprae, a farming community in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region, has reportedly died by hanging. According to information gathered by Adom News, the boy, Obed Amatey Anim, had gone fishing with his uncles on Monday while his father attended a funeral. He was later found lifeless, hanging from a tree in the community.
The tragic incident has left residents in shock, sparking calls for a thorough investigation. The assembly member for the Kaprae-Akaniem electoral area, Paul Nyanglesi, confirmed the incident, noting that it had been reported to the police and the body released to the family for burial.
Nyanglesi also mentioned that the boy had no known issues with anyone in the community, raising questions about what might have led to the incident. He urged the police to investigate fully, as some community members suspect foul play.
The boy’s grandfather, Teye Torgbenu, believes his grandson may have been murdered by his uncles and later hung from the tree. He said the boy was healthy and had even gone fishing with one of the uncles earlier in the day. Torgbenu is calling on the police to conduct a proper investigation and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
