Residents of Tolomedzi, a fishing village in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, are living in fear following repeated incursions by hippopotamuses emerging from the River Nanum, a tributary of the River Oti.
In interviews with Adom News, locals shared disturbing accounts of their encounters with the animals, which frequently leave the water and disrupt their daily lives.
The community, whose livelihood depends largely on fishing and farming, expressed growing concern over their safety and the threat these animals pose to their economic survival.
