Graduate Nurses, Midwives Threaten Protest Over Delayed Postings

- Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association plans protests over delayed government postings
- Some graduates have been unemployed for up to five years
- A demonstration scheduled for this week was called off due to unresolved security arrangements
The Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association has announced plans to protest against what it calls the government’s prolonged delay in posting its members, some of whom have been unemployed for up to five years.
A demonstration initially scheduled for this week was called off after the association was unable to finalize security arrangements with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.
Frustration among the graduates continues to grow.
In an interview with Citi News on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Gamal Osman, a 2021 graduate, described the challenges of the long wait.
“I have been at home for four years. I completed school in 2021. We are all stranded. Completing school and depending on someone is not easy. Even buying water is a struggle,” he said.
The association insists it will continue to pursue all lawful means to demand that its members be posted until the government takes action.
