Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malta Visits NLA

Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malta, H.E. Kalsoume Sinare, accompanied by her predecessor, H.E. Barbara Akuorkor Benisa, has paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam.

During the meeting, H.E. Sinare shared that, in preparation for her diplomatic role, she consulted with H.E. Benisa, who briefed her on the existing partnerships between the NLA, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), and the Maltese government.

The purpose of her visit, she noted, was to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration with the NLA, strengthen bilateral relations, and resolve any outstanding matters with Malta.

Mr. Abdul-Salam welcomed the two ambassadors and commended their shared commitment to advancing the interests of Ghana and promoting the NLA’s international presence.

He provided an overview of the historic relationship between the NLA and MGA, including key diplomatic visits from former Maltese President H.E. Dr. George Vella and Dr. Ian Borg, former Minister for Foreign, European Affairs and Trade. He reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining and enhancing these strategic ties with support from H.E. Sinare and H.E. Benisa.

Expressing her gratitude, H.E. Sinare acknowledged the strong foundation laid by her predecessor and pledged to continue building on it—especially in fostering cooperation between the NLA and MGA.

She emphasized her intent to champion the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the NLA and MGA. Once signed, the MOU would facilitate an annual staff exchange program, enabling ten NLA personnel to visit Malta each year to observe best practices within the gaming and lottery sector.

H.E. Benisa, the former High Commissioner, also reiterated her full support for H.E. Sinare and Mr. Abdul-Salam, expressing confidence in their ability to further deepen the relationship between Ghana and Malta in the gaming and lottery sectors.
