GFP marks first anniversary of Akua Donkor’s passing

Roman Fada, former running mate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), visited the final resting place of the party’s founder, Akua Donkor, to mark the first anniversary of her passing.

Madam Akua Donkor passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2024, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra and was laid to rest on March 29, 2025, in a ceremony attended by supporters, political figures, and admirers of her unconventional yet spirited political journey.

As part of the anniversary observance, family members and GFP representatives gathered for a tomb unveiling ceremony at Ejuratia. During his visit, Roman Fada reflected solemnly at the graveside, paying tribute to a woman he described as fearless and unwavering in her convictions.

He emphasized that Akua Donkor’s legacy continues to inspire grassroots supporters who admired her boldness and distinctive approach to politics. Fada also urged GFP members and sympathizers to uphold the principles she championed and to keep the party active in her honour.

He noted that her passing has left a significant void within the party and in Ghana’s political landscape.
