GAF resumes Greater Accra recruitment screening

GAF Resumes Greater Accra Recruitment Screening After Stampede

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the resumption of the 2025/2026 recruitment screening exercise for applicants in the Greater Accra Region, starting Thursday, November 20, 2025. The exercise had been suspended last week following a tragic stampede.

To enhance safety and manage crowds, the screening will now take place across eight sub-centres in five military locations:

Applicants will be processed in batches of 600 and will receive SMS notifications with their reporting date, batch, and designated centre. Those who do not receive a message by Nov 20 can call 0256405104 or WhatsApp 0256405154, or verify details on the recruitment portal. Non-applicants, including family and friends, will not be allowed at the centres.

A Board of Inquiry has been set up to investigate the stampede, and the Greater Accra recruitment team has been replaced. Commodore FA Nyarko has been appointed as Director General of Human Resource, with assurances that anyone found responsible will face sanctions.

The GAF extended condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery. All affected recruits will continue receiving free medical treatment at 37 Military Hospital.
