The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will resume the suspended 2025/2026 recruitment screening exercise for the Greater Accra Region today, November 20, 2025.

According to Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, who serves as the Acting Director General of Public Relations, the screening will take place at eight sub-centres across five locations to ensure smooth and efficient processing. Qualified applicants will be screened in batches of 600 and will receive SMS notifications with their reporting dates, batch numbers, and designated centres.

The exercise was halted earlier following a deadly stampede, which resulted in casualties. A Board of Inquiry is currently probing the incident.

To strengthen transparency and accountability, the recruitment team for the Greater Accra Region has been reconstituted. The new leadership includes Commodore F.A. Nyarko (Human Resources), Colonel F. Kusi-Darko (Manpower), and Colonel G.B. Eduah (Information Technology).

Captain Arhin emphasized that anyone found culpable in the previous incident will be sanctioned. She extended condolences to families of the deceased and confirmed that applicants who were injured will continue to receive free medical care at the 37 Military Hospital until full recovery. Additionally, a special recruitment package will be offered to the affected individuals and their families.

“The Ghana Armed Forces continues to rely on public cooperation throughout this process,” the statement noted.

The designated screening locations include El-Wak Stadium (two centres), Nicholson Park at Burma Camp (two centres), the Air Force Base at Burma Camp, TRADOC in Teshie (two centres), and the Eastern Naval Command in Tema.

Applicants are advised to follow all instructions provided in their SMS alerts and to check the recruitment portal for updates. Those who do not receive a message by November 20 are encouraged to contact the helpline or the official WhatsApp number for assistance.
