Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, held a breakfast meeting with the five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at his private residence in Nima, Accra.
A statement signed by his spokesperson, Fatimatu Abubakar, said the meeting aimed to encourage unity and mutual respect among the aspirants ahead of the party’s presidential primaries set for January 31, 2026, while also highlighting the need for cohesion as the party looks toward the 2028 general elections.
In his address, the former President thanked the aspirants for their commitment and praised their contributions to the party. He urged them to focus on issue-based campaigns and avoid divisive rhetoric that could undermine party unity.
Mr. Akufo-Addo emphasized that his main priority is ensuring a credible and peaceful primary process, which he believes is crucial to preparing the NPP for victory in the 2028 elections.

The five aspirants — Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong — reportedly reaffirmed their commitment to running respectful and competitive campaigns, and pledged to support whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer.
The meeting was also attended by senior NPP officials including Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Danquah Smith Buttey, Justin Kodua Frimpong, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
