Firefighters from the Mpraeso Fire Station spent nearly six hours on Thursday rescuing two men whose vehicle skidded off the Kwahu–Abetifi–Abene road and plunged into a deep ditch on Wednesday.

The rescue operation, led by Station Officer II Sanusi Issah, found the driver trapped inside the severely damaged vehicle. After hours of careful cutting and lifting, the team successfully freed him from the wreckage.

Both the driver and the passenger were immediately handed over to National Ambulance Service paramedics and transported to Atibie Government Hospital for medical attention.

Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was caused by a brake failure, which sent the vehicle off the road and into the ditch, causing significant front-end damage.

Officers from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), including Mr. Banahene, along with Emergency Medical Technician Mr. Brobbey and other responders, assisted in managing the scene and clearing the area.

Authorities have since urged drivers to maintain their vehicles regularly, especially the braking system, before embarking on long journeys, particularly along the hilly Kwahu routes known for challenging road conditions.
