Fire Destroys Equipment at Trassaco Northern Quarters

A major fire outbreak occurred on the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2025, at Paatang, located in the Trassaco Northern Quarters of Accra, resulting in the destruction of heavy construction equipment and property.

The blaze, which caused panic in the high-end residential area, affected four excavators and a security post at the site.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Madina Fire Station received an emergency call reporting the fire. A response team was immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the excavators and security post already in flames. Thanks to a swift response, the fire was brought under control within 16 minutes and completely extinguished within an hour, preventing further spread.

The fire caused partial damage to all four excavators, with one severely burned. The security post was completely destroyed, leaving nothing recoverable.

Initial observations suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault or a heat source, though the GNFS has launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause.
