The final funeral rites for veteran Ghanaian disc jockey and long-time Multimedia Group staff member, Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey, popularly known as DJ Awana, will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
The late DJ Awana will be laid in state at the Aggrey Road School Park in Tema Community 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
This will be followed by the burial service at the same venue starting at 9:00 a.m., after which he will be interred at the Prampram Cemetery.
DJ Awana passed away at the age of 47 on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the 37 Military Hospital, after a brief illness.
With a media career spanning over two decades, he began his journey with Adom FM during its early days in Tema, and quickly became a respected name in Ghana’s broadcast and live event scene.
Known for his gentle nature, humility, and exceptional music curation, DJ Awana earned the admiration of colleagues, listeners, and eventgoers alike.
He is survived by his three children: Beatrice Nartey, El-Nathan Duodu Nartey, and Nelson Nartey.
