The Adabraka District Court has postponed proceedings in the case involving the murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah to October 9, 2025.
During the hearing on Thursday, September 4, prosecutors informed the court that the Ghana Police Service required additional time and specialized equipment to advance their investigations. They noted that a court order had been secured to support this process and requested that the suspects, Bright Aweh and Thomas Ziggah, remain in custody.
Defense counsel, Gordon Aboagye, expressed concern about the detention conditions of the accused, emphasizing that, in line with democratic values, their families should be informed of their whereabouts to facilitate visitation.
He also extended condolences to the bereaved family and urged them to remain calm as the legal process unfolds.
The court encouraged the deceased officer’s relatives to remain composed and respectful, assuring them that justice would be served in due course.
Tensions flared outside the courtroom when the late officer’s aunt performed rituals, breaking eggs and calling on the gods to curse those she believes were involved in his death.
She reportedly declared:
“Whoever is responsible for his death should meet the same fate. Their entire lineage should suffer. The gods must not spare anyone connected to his murder.”
The case is set to resume on October 9, 2025.
