Armed Men Caught Posing as Anti-Mining Task Force

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has apprehended 10 armed individuals at the Nyankamam-Armori Forest in Aowin Municipality, Western North Region, for impersonating members of the task force.

The suspects, reportedly connected to the Aowin Traditional Authority, were allegedly operating without fear, extorting money from illegal miners and facilitating galamsey activities in the area.

A dawn raid by NAIMOS led to their capture, during which the group was found with weapons and talismans. The suspects have been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and potential prosecution.
