The atmosphere at Agogo Presbyterian Women’s College of Education has become tense and emotional as the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) appeals to the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Right Reverend Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, to step in and stop their respected Principal, Rev. Dr. Grace Sintim Adasi, from leaving the school.
In a heartfelt petition, the SRC expressed appreciation for the Moderator’s leadership and oversight of the church’s educational institutions, asking him to intervene in what they describe as a potential “devastating loss” to the college.
SRC Secretary, Alice Gyamfua, speaking on behalf of the students, said Rev. Dr. Adasi’s sudden resignation has deeply unsettled the campus community.
“The announcement of her resignation has shocked everyone. Both students and staff are anxious about the huge gap her exit would create,” she stated.
The petition praised Rev. Dr. Adasi’s impactful leadership, noting that her time in office has brought stability, academic growth, and unity to the college. The SRC stressed that losing her at such a crucial period would derail the progress she has championed.
“We humbly ask your revered office to speak to our mother and leader, and encourage her to reconsider her decision,” the statement read. “Her presence is vital to the well-being, continuity, and development of our institution.”
Students are hopeful that with the Moderator’s intervention, Rev. Dr. Adasi will rescind her decision and continue guiding the college. For now, the campus awaits his response, standing firmly in support of their Principal.
