Adukrom Road Crash – 3 Injured

- Three people injured after a truck crashed into a ditch at Waterworks Junction
- Incident occurred at 1:28 p.m., involving a Nissan Isuzu truck loaded with food and drinks
- Brake failure suspected as cause of the crash
Three individuals narrowly escaped death on Tuesday afternoon after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a ditch at Waterworks Junction, near Adukrom in the Okere District of the Eastern Region.
The incident, which occurred around 1:28 p.m., involved a Nissan Isuzu truck (registration number GS 746-17) reportedly carrying a load of foodstuffs and beverages. Preliminary assessments indicate the truck may have experienced a brake failure, leading to the crash.
Rescue personnel from the Akropong Fire Station, led by ADO I Gilbert Amoako, swiftly responded to the scene. The team successfully extricated all three occupants who were trapped inside the wrecked vehicle. The injured were immediately transported to a nearby health facility for medical treatment.
The damaged truck has since been handed over to the Akropong Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) for further investigation.
This is the second road crash reported at Waterworks Junction within just two weeks. On August 22, 2025, the Akropong Fire Station also responded to a late-night crash involving a KIA Mighty II truck (registration number GN 3931-18) transporting 50 bags of cement and other construction materials. That vehicle reportedly lost control due to clutch failure while descending the Adukrom-Somanya road.
In that incident, rescue officers led by ASTNO Jerry Kugblenu freed the driver, 47-year-old Ebenezer Nii Okai Gborbitey, who was promptly transferred to the Akuapem North Ambulance Service for urgent care.
Following these recurring incidents, residents have raised serious concerns about safety along the steep and hazardous Adukrom-Somanya stretch. They are calling for immediate traffic safety measures and engineering interventions to address the dangers posed by the notorious Waterworks Junction.
