Accra High Court jurors Consider petitioning Attorney General

- Jurors at Accra High Court have not been paid allowances for 8 months
- The situation has led to a strike lasting nearly a month
- No official explanation has been given by the Judicial Service
Jurors at the Accra High Court are considering submitting a petition to the Office of the Attorney General (AG) over the government’s prolonged delay in paying their allowances—an issue that has led to a strike lasting nearly a month.
The jurors, who have gone without their allowances for the past eight months, say they have yet to receive any official communication from the Judicial Service explaining the delay.
Speaking to Citi News, group spokesperson Joshua Alorgbey stated that they are still awaiting a formal response but may be compelled to escalate the matter to the Attorney General.
“We still haven’t heard from the Judicial Service and are waiting for some form of communication. We’re considering approaching the Attorney General—even though he may already be aware of the situation, we want to officially bring it to his attention and possibly take further action. That’s what we’re currently weighing. No decision has been made yet; we’re giving it a bit more time,” he explained.
