A chilling incident has sent shockwaves through the Gomoa Mfantse-Moa community in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region, as a 21-year-old Okada rider, Kwame Ofosu, was brutally beheaded by an unknown assailant. The victim had been hired to transport the assailant to a nearby village, but upon reaching a secluded area, the assailant allegedly killed the rider, severed his head, and fled the scene.
The community’s outrage was palpable as angry youth stormed the newly commissioned Gomoa Obuasi Police Station, vandalizing the building, a police vehicle, and private cars belonging to officers. The attack was reportedly sparked by misinformation that the police had arrested some suspects.
Ibrahim Obeng, the Assemblyman for Gomoa Afranse-Ofaso Electoral Area, confirmed the tragic incident in an interview with Adom News, revealing that the perpetrators had indeed taken the victim’s head. He urged Okada riders to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough background checks on passengers before offering their services.
As the police investigate the case, they have appealed for calm in the community, urging residents to report any suspicious activities that could aid in apprehending the culprits.
