Ghana’s Economy Grows 5.5% in Q3 2025

- Ghana’s GDP grows 5.5% in Q3 2025, down from 7.0% last year
- Growth largely driven by ICT, crops, trade, transport, manufacturing, and education
- Services sector remains largest contributor, growing 7.6% and accounting for 55.3% of Q3 growth
Ghana’s economy expanded by 5.5% in the third quarter of 2025, according to newly released data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
The figures indicate sustained economic activity, though at a slower pace compared to the 7.0% growth recorded in the same quarter of 2024.
The GSS noted that growth was broad-based but largely driven by a few key sectors. ICT, crops, trade, transport and storage, manufacturing, and education together accounted for about 86% of the overall expansion, underscoring their critical role in sustaining output amid tighter credit conditions and a high-cost operating environment.
Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, presenting the GDP breakdown on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, said that services continue to be the main engine of growth.
“Industry grew by 0.8% in the third quarter of 2025, up from 0.4% in the same period last year. The oil and gas sector, however, contracted by about 18.2%, while manufacturing recorded strong growth of 3.9%, compared to 7.4% in the same quarter last year.
“Services remained the largest contributor to economic growth, expanding by 7.6%. The sector accounts for 40% of the economy and contributed 55.3% to third-quarter growth,” he explained.
