The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) anticipates more than US$44 billion in new trade and investment agreements at this year’s Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), which it predicts will be the biggest and most impactful edition yet.
Set for September 4–10 in Algiers, Algeria, the event will host over 2,000 exhibitors from more than 75 countries and attract upwards of 35,000 participants. Afreximbank describes the fair as a bold effort to expand intra-African trade beyond raw commodities toward value-added goods and services.
At the IATF 2025 Ghana Roadshow in Accra, Dr. Yemi Kale, Afreximbank’s Managing Director of Research and Group Chief Economist, highlighted the fair’s role in translating African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) policies into tangible business results. “We are targeting over 2,000 exhibitors from more than 75 countries, 35,000 participants, and upwards of US$44 billion in new trade and investment deals,” he revealed.
Dr. Kale urged Ghana not just to participate but to take a leadership position. “We are not simply inviting Ghana to attend—we want Ghana to lead,” he said. “We expect to see Ghanaian businesses showcasing products, regional pavilions from Ghana, performances by Ghanaian creatives, and entrepreneurs from Ghana closing deals.”
Reaffirming its strong partnership with Ghana, Afreximbank described the country as “a vital part” of its development mission.
“Ghana is a founding member of Afreximbank, and since our inception, we have supported Ghanaian enterprises across key sectors,” Dr. Kale said. “We remain committed to advancing Ghana’s export-driven growth and enhancing its competitiveness across the continent.”
