Government pledges major infrastructure for Ada

- Gov’t promises major projects in Ada: roads, markets, water
- $13.8 billion investment under Big Push and 24-Hour Economy
- Ongoing water project aims to serve over 10 communities
The government has committed to delivering significant infrastructure developments for the people of Ada, focusing on road construction, market rehabilitation, and the provision of clean drinking water.
This assurance was delivered on behalf of former President John Dramani Mahama by Ms. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo during the 88th Asafotufiami Festival in Ada.
She announced that, under the “Big Push” initiative and the “24-Hour Plus Economy” policy, the government is investing $13.8 billion into infrastructure projects nationwide.
As part of this, the Finance Minister, in the Mid-Year Budget Review, revealed that 5,000 kilometres of roads would be reconstructed across 166 constituencies within the next three years.
Ada, she said, is a key beneficiary, with the government recognizing the urgent need to upgrade critical roads in the area. Specific routes mentioned include:
- Kasseh to Adafoah
- Adafoah to Togbokpe
- Togbloku to Aminapah/Medie
- Kasseh to Assigbeykope
The roads from Kasseh to Ada-Foah and Adafoah to Totope, in particular, were highlighted as crucial to the local economy.
In addition to road improvements, Ms. Bampoe Addo said the government will prioritise the rehabilitation of markets in Adafoah and Kasseh, as part of the $1 million annual allocation per district under the 24-Hour Economy policy. These funds aim to enhance market infrastructure, especially storage facilities, to support both daytime and nighttime commerce.
She added that part of the funding will address community-specific challenges—especially those affecting farmers and fishermen—by providing relevant industrial support.
Ms. Bampoe Addo also emphasized Ada’s strategic importance as Ghana’s salt and mineral hub, affirming that it will receive special attention under Mahama’s leadership.
On the issue of water supply, she noted the government is actively working to resolve the water crisis in several Ada communities. She referenced an inspection visit in April 2025 by the area’s MP Madam Doyoe, accompanied by the Minister for Works and Housing, the NDC National Chairman, and local authorities, to monitor an ongoing water project.
Communities set to benefit from urgent water interventions include Otime-Kope, Ocansey-Kope, Mataheko, Anyakpo, Adedetse-Kope, Suntsokpa, Patukope, Elevanyo, Pute, and Totopey.
She concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving living standards and driving prosperity in Ada and beyond.
