Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has appealed for calm and restraint in Bawku following renewed violence in the area on Sunday, July 13.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, July 14, Dr. Boamah addressed the heightened tensions in the conflict-prone municipality, acknowledging the troubling nature of the recent events.

“We are, once again, urging restraint and calm in Bawku regarding the latest developments as of yesterday,” he stated.

His appeal comes in the wake of rising fear and uncertainty among residents after Sunday’s attacks.

The Defence Minister also disclosed that he has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident and pledged prompt action based on its findings.

“I have directed thorough investigations into the recent matter and promised to take swift action based on recommendations,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.

Dr. Boamah concluded his message with a renewed plea to all parties to avoid further violence.

“Once again, let us ensure restraint!” he urged.
