Eight students from the Winneba Technical Institute are currently being investigated after appearing in a viral video where they were seen displaying weapons.

The footage, reportedly filmed on campus, shows the students—yet to be fully identified—wielding knives, scissors, and other dangerous items.

The video has sparked public outrage and criticism of the school’s safety protocols. Speaking to Citi News’ Central Regional Correspondent, Akwasi Addo, the school’s Assistant Administrator, Stephen Yaw Asare, confirmed that an internal investigation is ongoing to identify all students involved. He added that disciplinary actions are being considered to serve as a warning to others.

“We gathered the students and managed to identify some of them. They were taken to the principal’s office for further questioning. They claimed it was meant to be harmless fun, but given how serious the video appears, we must take appropriate measures,” he explained.

Addressing concerns about how the students obtained the weapons, Asare acknowledged that despite regular inspections by school authorities, students often find ways to bypass them. He urged parents to search their children’s belongings before they return to school to help prevent such incidents.
