The President’s nominee for Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asokore Mampong was confirmed by the assembly members on Saturday.

Ben Abdallah Alhassan received 17 out of 18 votes, amounting to 94 percent support.

His confirmation followed a period of controversy surrounding his nomination, which led to the suspension of some party members.

The Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak, was present at the confirmation meeting. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Alhassan pledged to carry out his responsibilities in line with constitutional provisions and local government regulations.

“It is both my honour and pledge to serve as MCE in accordance with the Constitution, the Local Government Act, and the model standing orders,” he stated.

He also assured the MP of his commitment to collaborate closely to drive development within the municipality.

Earlier, MP Muntaka Mubarak expressed appreciation to all stakeholders who played a role in the confirmation process.

Additionally, the Presiding Member of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, Mohammed L.A. Jarah, called on all assembly members to support the newly confirmed MCE.

The assembly had operated without a Presiding Member for over a year until Mohammed’s recent election.
